YETI BaseCamp.

This hypothetical design project asks the question: What if YETI had a dinnerware line?

Most outdoor dinnerware lacks heat retention, comes in incomplete sets, and is made of cheap materials.

The Problem.

Based on the products in the market, there is a significant opportunity for an outdoor dinnerware set that is high quality and complete with the correct components.

Biaxial Product Mapping.

Why Choose YETI?

Based on a scroll through the site, these were the only “dinnerware” related items available. There were bowls but they were for dogs!

Design Criteria.

After conducting user and market research, 3 key design criteria were identified. This criteria will be used for the ideation phase.

Concept Exploration.

A variety of concepts were created to get a batter understanding of the design language. Key features such as nesting and handle features played a large role.

Concept Refinement.

The final two concepts were created in CAD to get a better understanding of the form and CMF. Certain parts were taken from each concept after getting insight from potential users.

YETI BaseCamp.

The YETI BaseCamp dinnerware set comes with 5 distinct items; 1 beverage bucket, 2 serving bowls, 4 plates, 4 bowls, and 4 cups.

Compact Design.

In order to ensure portability, a lid was designed to ensure that all of the dinnerware items stay secure and clean during transport.

“From Camp to Table”
